- Coverage of the data
The observation record for this site began on 18 October 2026, the first day we accepted a Fuel Finder file from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Everything before that date is outside it, because we did not hold the file then and we do not fill gaps with estimates.
Two collections a day are due. Every page states how many of those collections were made and how many distinct publisher releases they hold. A repeated file is still one release. No window is complete yet, and no area median has been published yet.
Window names are earned, not assumed. A window is called seven days only when the full calendar span has passed and at least six days were observed. A thirty-day window needs the full span and at least four fifths of its days. Otherwise the label names the days actually observed.
Publishing floors apply to every cell, including each brand, grade and window combination. Fewer than three reporting stations means no page. Three or four means a median and a count, with no spread and no ranking. Five or more allows a spread. A persistence figure needs at least four complete observed weeks.
Worked example, CR0. Stations reporting E10 petrol: 14 stations. Three scheduled collections of three due. They hold one distinct publisher release.

What this does not mean
What this page does not show
It does not tell you what a named station charges. Only area figures are published, and a station price never appears here in any form.
It does not tell you today's price. A median describes a past window of reported prices; for the price right now, use the Fuel Finder service run by the department, which we link on every page.
It does not say anyone broke a rule. A price that did not move is not evidence of a missing report or of a breach of the reporting rules.
It does not promise a saving. A difference between two area medians is a description of history, not a forecast of what you would pay.
It does not cover a collection we did not make. A repeated file does not add a day. Each page states how many scheduled collections were made and how many distinct publisher releases they hold.
